William West Anderson, professionally known as Adam West, was an American actor. He portrayed Batman in the 1960s ABC series of the same name and its 1966 theatrical feature film, reprising the role in other films and television shows until his retirement from live-action appearances.
Adam West was born William West Anderson on September 19, 1928, in Walla Walla, Washington. West gained fame for his role as Batman in the television series "Batman" which aired from 1966 to 1968. In addition to this work, West has done voice over work for various animated series such as The Simpsons, Family Guy, The Fairly Oddparents, Johnny Bravo and more.
He was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2012 with 2 stars - one for television and another for motion pictures. In recent years, he has continued to appear in television shows such as Drop Dead Diva and 30 Rock. Adam West passed away at the age of 88 on June 9th 2017 due to leukemia complications.
