Ajay Devgn is a renowned film actor, producer and director from India. He was born into a Punjabi family in New Delhi on April 2, 1969. His father Veeru Devgan was an action movie director and stunt choreographer. His mother Veena is a housewife. He has two siblings; an older brother Anil Devgan and a younger sister Neelam Devgan.

Devgn started his career as a child artist in the 1984 movie ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ which became popular and earned him Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. After that he had many other successes such as Dilwale (1994), Suhaag (1994), Ishq (1997), Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha (1998) and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999). In 2001 he starred in Lajja, which won him critical acclaim, and also produced it. This movie won several awards including National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

In 2002, Devgan directed his first movie U Me Aur Hum which performed moderately at the box office but won appreciation from critics for its unique storyline. Later he acted in movies like Golmaal (2006), Omkara (2006), Singham Returns (2014) and Total Dhamaal (2019). He also produced several successful films such as Son of Sardaar (2012) and Shivaay(2016).

Throughout his career, he has been nominated for several awards including nine Filmfare Awards out of which he has won four. He has received Padma Shri award, India's fourth highest civilian honour, by the Government of India in 2016 for his contributions to Indian cinema.
