Akshay Kumar, born Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia on September 9, 1967, is an Indian-born Canadian actor and producer. Born in Amritsar, India, he moved to Mumbai at the age of 17 to pursue an acting career. He debuted in 1991 with the film "Saugandh" and has since starred in over 120 feature films. Akshay is one of the most successful and highest paid actors in Bollywood and has been nominated for numerous awards throughout his career.

Akshay is known for his versatile roles ranging from action heroics to comic roles. In 2008 his performance in "Singh Is Kinng" earned him a Filmfare award nomination for Best Actor and further cemented his place as a leading man in Hindi cinema. His later works include "Airlift", "Housefull 2", "Baby", and "Jolly LLB 2". He has also appeared in several international projects such as "Breakaway" (2011) and "Brothers" (2015).

Outside of acting, Akshay is an accomplished martial artist and philanthropist. He holds a black belt in Taekwondo and has trained with martial arts legends Jackie Chan and Jet Li. In 2017 he was appointed as a national ambassador for the Government of India's 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign which seeks to promote the education of girls across India.
