About

Allen Ezail Iverson was born on June 7, 1975, in Hampton, Virginia. His zodiac sign is Gemini and his ethnicity is African-American. He grew up with his mother, Ann Iverson, and three siblings. His father abandoned the family when Iverson was just four years old. Growing up without a father figure had a huge impact on Iverson's life; he got involved in several fights as a teen and his bad-boy reputation followed him through college.

Iverson attended Bethel High School in Hampton, Virginia, where he excelled at basketball and football. He earned All-American honors in both sports, but chose to pursue a career in basketball after receiving numerous college scholarship offers. After high school, he attended Georgetown University for two years before entering the 1996 NBA Draft.

Iverson was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers as the first overall pick of the draft and went on to become one of the most successful players in franchise history. During his tenure with the Sixers, Iverson earned 10 All-Star selections and was named MVP of the 2001 season after leading the team to the NBA Finals. He holds several franchise records including most points scored (24,368) and most assists (5,624).

After leaving Philadelphia in 2006, Iverson continued to play for several teams until his official retirement from professional basketball in 2013. Since then he has been inducted into both the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and FIBA Hall of Fame for his contributions to the sport.
