Anthony Mackie was born on September 23, 1978 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is an American actor who has starred in several movies and television shows. Mackie began his career as a stage actor before making the transition to film. He made his Broadway debut in 2002's "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom." After appearing in a number of small roles in films such as 8 Mile, Million Dollar Baby, and The Manchurian Candidate, Mackie earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of Sgt. JT Sanborn in the 2006 war thriller The Hurt Locker. In 2011 he had a starring role in Captain America: The First Avenger and since then has appeared in numerous Marvel movies including Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

In addition to acting on the big screen, Mackie has also starred on the small screen with roles on TV shows like Altered Carbon, House of Cards, Reprisal, and The Falcon & Winter Soldier. He is also an accomplished voice actor having provided voices for animated series such as The Boondocks and Robot Chicken.

Mackie received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for his performance as Martin Luther King Jr. in the HBO miniseries All The Way (2016). He has also been nominated for two Critics Choice Awards for Best Supporting Actor for his work on Netflix’s film Point Blank (2019) and Hulu’s miniseries Little Fires Everywhere (2020).
