Blueface, born Jonathan Porter on January 20, 1997 in Los Angeles, California, is an American rapper and songwriter. He originally gained popularity through his viral hit “Thotiana” which was released in 2018. His signature style of rap includes a unique double time flow and off beat cadence. His rapping style has been praised by many artists including Drake who celebrated him during the 2019 NBA All Star Weekend.
Blueface began rapping at age 12 but didn't take it seriously until after he graduated high school. He started to upload his music to SoundCloud and YouTube in 2016 when he changed his name from "Young Blue" to Blueface. He first gained recognition with the release of his mixtape Famous Cryp in 2018 and quickly rose to fame when “Thotiana” peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in March 2019. Since then he has collaborated with many other well-known artists such as Cardi B, YG, Snoop Dogg, Offset and more.
In 2019 Blueface signed with Cash Money West, a division of Cash Money Records founded by Birdman. The same year he released two mixtapes Dirt Bag and Two Coccy which were both met with praise from critics and fans alike. In 2020 he released his debut studio album Find The Beat which debuted at number 58 on the US Billboard 200 chart.
Blueface is known for being outspoken and controversial but his musical talent can not be denied as he continues to make waves throughout the hip hop industry.
