Robert Barisford Brown is an American singer, songwriter and dancer. Brown, alongside frequent collaborator Teddy Riley, is noted as one of the pioneers of new jack swing: a fusion of hip hop and R&B.

Bobby Brown was born Robert Barisford Brown in Boston, Massachusetts on February 5, 1969. He is an American singer-songwriter and actor. His parents were Carole Elizabeth and Herbert James Brown. Bobby has three siblings: brothers Tommy and Leroy, and a sister Leolah.
Brown became interested in music when he was young, and he formed the group New Edition with his friends in 1979 when he was just ten years old. The group gained success as they released albums like Special Edition (1985), Heart Break (1988), Home Again (1996) and One Love (2004).
In 1985, Bobby left New Edition to pursue a solo career; he released his debut album King of Stage that same year. He went on to release five more solo albums over the next two decades including Don't Be Cruel (1988), Bobby (1992), Forever (1997), The Masterpiece (2012), and Every Little Step I Take (2020). His single "My Prerogative" topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1989.
Bobby also had some acting roles such as A Thin Line Between Love & Hate (1996) and Two Can Play That Game (2001). He also starred in the reality show Being Bobby Brown which aired from 2005-2006.
Brown has been married twice: first to Whitney Houston from 1992-2007, then to Alicia Etheredge since 2012. Together they have four children: son Cassius Brown, daughters Landon, La'Princia, and Bodhi Jameson Rein Brown.
