About

Carly Simon was born on June 25th, 1945 in New York City, New York, United States. She is an American singer-songwriter and musician who first rose to fame in the 1970s with her pop hits including "You're So Vain," "Nobody Does It Better," and "Coming Around Again." Her career has spanned over five decades, producing 24 studio albums and winning multiple Grammy Awards. In addition to her success in music, she has also written two memoirs and served as a judge for the 9th Annual Independent Music Awards.

Simon was exposed to music from a young age due to her mother's background in classical piano. As a teenager, she attended the prestigious Riverdale Country School before attending Sarah Lawrence College. After college, she moved to London where she met several musicians that would help launch her career while working with them on their own projects. Her debut self-titled album was released in 1971 where it peaked at #30 on the Billboard 200 chart. The single "That's The Way I've Always Heard It Should Be" was released that same year and peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Her second album Anticipation (1971) spawned the hit single of the same name which peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart while also being certified Gold by the RIAA. Her next album No Secrets (1972) became her most successful album yet topping the Billboard 200 chart and spawning another top ten hit single with "You're So Vain." Simon continued to release new material throughout the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s including her most recent release of Never Been Gone (2009). She continues to perform live shows around the world today despite taking a break from releasing new music since 2002.
