Son Chae-young, known mononymously as Chaeyoung, is a South Korean rapper and singer. She is a member of the South Korean girl group Twice, formed by JYP Entertainment.
About
Chaeyoung (born Chaeryeong) is a South Korean rapper and singer born on June 5, 2001. She is best known for being a member of the K-Pop girl group ITZY, formed by JYP Entertainment in 2019. Prior to joining ITZY, Chaeyoung was part of the pre-debut project group "SIXTEEN" along with her sister Chaeryeong.
Chaeyoung started her entertainment career at a young age, participating in various shows and competitions including Superstar K2, SBS’s “The Fan”, Mnet’s “Hit The Stage” and “Dancing 9”. She also appeared as an actress in dramas such as “Dream High 2” and “My Little Television”. In 2016, she debuted as part of the JYP Entertainment's girl group TWICE with their single "Cheer Up".
In 2018 she returned to JYP Entertainment to compete in the survival show "SIXTEEN", where she placed third overall after winning over fans with her rapping skills. The same year, Chaeyoung made her solo debut with the single "One Side". In 2019, she joined fellow members Yeji, Lia, Ryujin and Yuna to form the five-member girl group ITZY under JYP Entertainment.
Since then, ITZY has achieved immense success with their singles becoming chart toppers in Korea and Japan. They have also won many awards from prestigious music programs such as The Show, Music Bank and Inkigayo. Outside of music Chaeyoung enjoys playing video games and listening to music in her free time.
