Chloé Wang, known professionally as Chloe Bennet, is an American actress and singer. She starred as Daisy Johnson/Quake in the ABC superhero drama series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Chloe Bennet was born Chloe Wang on April 18, 1992 in Chicago, Illinois. She is of Chinese-American descent and speaks fluent Mandarin; her father is Han Chinese and her mother is Caucasian. Bennet began her acting career in 2011 with a recurring role on the Disney XD sitcom “Shake It Up”. She had guest roles on various television shows such as “Nashville”, “The Night Shift”, and “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D”. In 2013, she starred in the independent film “Nashville”, playing a young songwriter trying to make it in the music industry. The same year, she was cast as Daisy Johnson (codename: Skye) on Marvel's “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” which aired from 2013-2020 and made her a household name within the Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom worldwide.
In 2015, she sang a duet version of "Yesterday" with Logan Paul for his YouTube channel which gained over 10 million views within its first week of release and currently has over 81 million views on YouTube as of 2019. In 2017, she starred alongside Maia Mitchell in Freeform's spy comedy series “The Bold Type” and also co-starred in the Netflix original movie “Deidra & Laney Rob A Train” that same year. In 2018, she appeared in two films - Paramount Pictures' sci-fi action thriller “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” directed by Luc Besson and 20th Century Fox's superhero movie “X-Men: Apocalypse” as Psylocke/Elizabeth Braddock opposite James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Oscar Isaac; Bennet reprised her role as Psylocke in Dark Phoenix (2019).
Bennet has also become an advocate for Asian representation in media since becoming one of few Asian-American leading actresses on network television with her role on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., speaking out against racism towards Asians online and offline, notably after experiencing it herself firsthand during the audition process for Marvel's Iron Fist series where she changed her last name from Wang to Bennet for fear that being Chinese would hurt her chances at getting casted for any other roles besides those specifically written for Asian characters or those who spoke only Mandarin or Cantonese languages; this incident led to Bennet becoming more vocal about wanting to see better representation of Asians in Hollywood projects moving forward as well as other forms of media such as video games and books amongst others so that more people can be empowered by seeing themselves represented positively on screen regardless of race or ethnicity
