Daveed Daniele Diggs was born on January 24, 1982 in Oakland, California. His zodiac sign is Aquarius and his ethnicity is African-American. He was raised by his mother, Dr. Arlester Diggs, who worked as a public health expert and teacher at Stanford University. He has two brothers and one sister.
Diggs attended Berkeley High School where he became involved with theatre during his freshman year. After graduating high school, he attended Brown University to study theatre arts and English literature. During his time at Brown, he was part of the hip-hop group Clipping while working with the National Theatre of Great Britain in 2010.
In 2015, Diggs made his Broadway debut in the musical Hamilton, winning the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson. Following this success, Diggs went on to perform in another Broadway show, The Little Mermaid (2017), before returning to Hamilton for its 2018 tour across North America and Australia.
In addition to acting and performing on stage, Diggs has also released music as part of his rap trio Clipping., including their debut album CLPPNG (2014) which was met with positive reviews from critics. He has also appeared in television shows such as Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015) and Black-ish (2018). In 2019, he released a solo album titled Small Things To A Giant which received critical acclaim from fans and critics alike.
