Diljit Dosanjh was born on January 6, 1984 in the village of Dosanjh Kalan, Punjab, India. His father was a farmer and his mother was a homemaker. He began singing at the age of four and would often participate in school plays. Diljit studied music at A.S College in Jalandhar and later attended Khalsa College in Amritsar, where he majored in Music and Agriculture.

With a passion for music, Diljit released his first Punjabi-language album ‘Ishq Da Uda Ada’ in 2004. The album gained him recognition within the Punjabi music industry and several awards including ‘Best Male Debut’ at the PTC Punjabi Music Awards. He went on to release seven more albums as well as two collaborative albums with Gippy Grewal which became instant chartbusters upon their release.

In 2011, Diljit made his acting debut with the Punjabi movie ‘The Lion of Punjab’ for which he received critical acclaim. Since then he has acted in numerous commercially successful films such as Jatt & Juliet (2012), Punjab 1984 (2014), Sardaar Ji (2015) and Super Singh (2017). In 2020, he made his Bollywood debut with Udta Punjab alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan. He also starred as the titular character in the 2018 Hindi movie Soorma alongside Tapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi.

In addition to acting and singing, Diljit is also an accomplished television host, having hosted popular shows like Rising Star Season 2 on Colors TV and Kaun Banega Crorepati 11 on Sony TV.
