Eric Anthony Roberts is an American actor. His career began with a leading role in King of the Gypsies for which he received his first Golden Globe Award nomination. He was nominated again at the Golden Globes for his role in Bob Fosse's Star 80.
Eric Anthony Roberts was born on April 18, 1956, in Biloxi, Mississippi. His zodiac sign is Aries, and his ethnicity is Irish-American. He is the son of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts, and he has five siblings: Julia Roberts, Lisa Roberts Gillan, Nancy Motes, Kelly Cunningham and Barry Roberts.
Roberts started his career in 1976 with a small part in the movie King of the Gypsies as well as a minor role in the television series Baretta. In 1981 he had a star-making turn in Raggedy Man where he played an abusive husband opposite Sissy Spacek's character. His performance earned him a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor - Motion Picture and the following year he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work in Star 80.
Throughout his career, Roberts has worked with many of Hollywood's biggest stars such as Bruce Willis, Danny Glover and Christian Slater among others. He has also starred in films such as The Pope of Greenwich Village (1984), Runaway Train (1985) and The Dark Knight (2008). In addition to his film work he has also guest starred on several television shows including Friends, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and House M.D.. Eric currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife Eliza Garrett Roberts.
