Evan Rachel Wood was born on September 7, 1987, in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is an American actress and musician who began her career as a child actor. Her father, Ira David Wood III, is a theatre actor, writer and director, and her mother, Sara Lynn Moore, is an actress.

Wood started acting when she was nine years old and starred in several films throughout the early 2000s including Thirteen (2003), for which she received critical acclaim and two Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Actress – Drama and Best Supporting Actress. She also starred in the critically acclaimed film Across The Universe (2007) and appeared in numerous independent films including Running with Scissors (2006), The Wrestler (2008), and The Ides of March (2011).

In 2010, Wood garnered further attention after landing roles in the HBO series True Blood and the feature film The Conspirator. In 2011 she won a Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie/Miniseries for her portrayal of Dolores Abernathy in Westworld (2016-present).

Wood has also been active as a singer-songwriter since 2007, releasing four albums to date: Hey Kid EP (2007), The Way the Wind Blows EP (2009), Wash Me Away EP (2012), and We Were Made To Love EP (2019). In 2018 she was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album for her work on the cast recording of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical.
