Gina Joy Carano is an American actress and former mixed martial artist. She competed in EliteXC and Strikeforce from 2006 to 2009, where she compiled a 7–1 record. Her popularity led to her being called the "face of women's MMA", although Carano rejected this title.
Gina Joy Carano was born on April 16, 1982, in Dallas, Texas. She is an American actress and former MMA fighter. Her zodiac sign is Aries and her ethnicity is Italian-American. She is the daughter of Dana Joy (Cason) and Glenn Thomas Carano, who owned a gym and worked as an accountant for a professional football team. She has two brothers, one older and one younger.
Carano attended Trinity Christian High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she competed in volleyball and basketball. After high school, she enrolled at the University of Nevada Las Vegas but dropped out after one year to pursue a career in mixed martial arts (MMA). At the age of 21, she made her MMA debut against Leiticia Pestova at EliteXC: Destiny on February 10th 2006. She went on to win 7 fights before retiring from MMA at the end of 2009 with an 8–1 record.
In 2009, Carano signed a deal with NBC Universal Television Studios to star in her own television series called “Ring Girls” which aired for six episodes. In 2011, she appeared in “Haywire” which marked her acting debut and was followed by roles in films such as “Fast & Furious 6” (2013), “Deadpool” (2016), “The Mandalorian” (2019–present) and many more. She also starred opposite Michael Fassbender in “Assassin’s Creed” (2016).
In 2017, Carano signed a deal with Paramount Pictures to star in their upcoming female-led spy film “Banshee Chapter” which was set to be released later that year but was ultimately cancelled due to budget issues. She has also appeared in several TV shows including “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” (2010–2011) and "American Gladiators" (2008–2009).
