Other stage roles include playing Lady Macbeth in Macbeth at Shakespeare's Globe, Olivia in Twelfth Night and Rosalind in As You Like It in the West End.

Helen Elizabeth McCrory, OBE was born on August 17, 1968 in London, England. She is the daughter of Iain and Anne McCrory and has three siblings. She attended Queenswood School near Hatfield and studied at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London.

McCrory began her acting career appearing in stage productions such as "The Cherry Orchard," "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and "Les Liaisons Dangereuses." In 2002, she made her debut on television with a role in the British TV series "Foyle's War." Her first major film role was that of Cherie Blair in The Queen (2006). In 2008, she starred alongside Daniel Craig in the James Bond film Quantum of Solace. 

In 2011, McCrory received critical acclaim for her performance as Cherie Blair in Stephen Frears' feature The Queen plus Best Actress nomination at the British Independent Film Awards. She followed this up with roles in Hugo (2011), Anna Karenina (2012), Skyfall (2012), and Love Actually (2003). In 2013, she was cast as Narcissa Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. 

In recent years, Helen McCrory has appeared as Aunt Polly Gray on BBC One's Peaky Blinders since 2013 and as Clair Dowar MP on Sky Atlantic's drama series Brexit: The Uncivil War since 2019. McCrory was nominated for a BAFTA TV Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Clair Dowar MP. She also won an Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Last of the Haussmans at National Theatre. 

McCrory is married to actor Damian Lewis with whom she has two children.
