John Anthony White, is an American musician, best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the duo the White Stripes. White has enjoyed consistent critical and popular success and is widely credited as one of the key artists in the garage rock revival of the 2000s.
Jack White, born John Anthony Gillis on July 9th 1975 in Detroit Michigan, is an American rock singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer. He is best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of The White Stripes, but has also released two solo albums.
White started playing music at a young age with his older brother Jimmy and later joined the band Two Star Tabernacle which soon changed its name to The Upholsterers. After the demise of The Upholsterers in 1998, he formed The White Stripes with Meg White. Their first album was released in 1999 and they went on to become one of the most influential bands of their time.
After releasing six studio albums with The White Stripes, Jack released his debut solo album Blunderbuss in 2012. His second solo album Lazaretto was released in 2014 and became his first number one album on the Billboard 200 chart. In 2015 he formed a new band called Dead Weather with Alison Mosshart from The Kills. He also founded Third Man Records in 2001 as an independent record label and production company which acts as a platform for his various projects including albums by other artists.
