Jaclyn Smith was born on October 26, 1945 in Houston, Texas. She is an American actress and businesswoman, best known for her role as Kelly Garrett in the television series “Charlie’s Angels” (1976–1981). Her father was a government employee and her mother worked as a teacher. Smith attended Trinity University in San Antonio to study drama and psychology.

She started acting at a young age and made her film debut in 1969 with the feature “Night of the Strangler”. She then had roles in many other films such as “The Great Waldo Pepper” (1975) and “The Wild Women of Chastity Gulch” (1982). In 1976, she gained fame when she was cast as one of the three female leads in ABC’s hit television series “Charlie's Angels”. The show became one of the most popular shows on TV during its five-year run.

After the show ended, she starred in several television movies and miniseries, including “Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy” (1981), which earned her an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Special. She also had supporting roles in two major motion pictures: “Dressed to Kill” (1980) and “Staying Alive” (1983).

In addition to her acting career, Smith has also been successful as an entrepreneur. She launched a clothing line for Kmart stores back in 1985 and has since released several collections over the years. She has also branched out into other areas such as fragrances, home decor, jewelry, bedding and furniture. In 2008, Smith was honored with a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to television and entertainment industry.
