Joan Collins was born on May 23, 1933, in London, England. Her zodiac sign is Gemini and her ethnicity is English. She is the daughter of Elsie and Joseph William Henry Collins, and she has two siblings—a sister named Jackie and a brother named Bill.

Collins began acting at an early age and attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts for two years before starting her professional career in 1952. She made her television debut in 1954 in an episode of the BBC’s “The Vise” and went on to appear in various British films throughout the 1950s and 1960s. In 1965, she made her Broadway debut and subsequently moved to Hollywood. 

In 1971, Collins earned international fame with her role as Alexis Colby in the soap opera “Dynasty” which ran until 1989. She won two Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama for her role as Alexis. During that time, she also wrote several books including “My Secrets” (1985) and “Second Act” (1987). 

In recent years, Collins has appeared in various stage productions such as “Legally Blonde The Musical” (2008), a remake of the film “The Flintstones” (1994), a recurring role on Fox's comedy series “Empire” (2015-17), voice work on Disney's animated film “Ralph Breaks The Internet” (2018) and more recently in Netflix's holiday romantic comedy movie “Holiday Rush” (2019).

Collins has been married five times—to Maxwell Reed, Anthony Newley, Ron Kass, Peter Holm and Percy Gibson—and has three children: Tara Newley Hippolyte, Sacha Newley and Katyana Kass.
