Katey Sagal is a Golden Globe-nominated American actress, singer and writer, best known for her roles in Futurama, Sons of Anarchy, 8 Simple Rules, and Married... with Children and had a minor role in That '70s show as Steven Hyde's mother, Edna Hyde. She portrayed Annora on FX's The Bastard Executioner.
Katey Sagal is an American actress and singer-songwriter, best known for her roles on television. She was born Catherine Louise Sagal on January 19, 1954, in Los Angeles, California. Her father, Boris Sagal, was a director of Ukrainian descent. Her mother, Sara Zwilling, was an artist of Jewish heritage.
Sagal began her career as a backup singer for Bob Dylan and Bette Midler before turning to acting in the mid-1970s. She made her debut in 1978 with a guest spot on Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman and a role in the miniseries Captains and the Kings (1976). In 1982 she landed the role of Peggy Bundy on Married...With Children (1986-1997) which earned her four Golden Globe nominations.
In 2000 Sagal starred in Futurama (1999-2003), playing Leela and providing the voice for many other characters; this earned her an Annie Award for Voice Acting in 2001. She went on to star in 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter (2002-2005) where she played Cate Hennessy, matriarch of the Hennessy clan. This role earned her two more Golden Globe nominations as well as two Emmy nominations and a People's Choice Award win. In 2011 she returned to television with her role as Gemma Teller Morrow on Sons of Anarchy (2008-2014). She won a Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2012 and another Emmy nomination in 2014.
Subsequently Sagal has acted in films such as Lost & Found (1999), Dropping Out (2000), Alice (2009) and Pitch Perfect 2 (2015). In 2018 she joined the cast of The Conners (2018-present) after Roseanne Barr's character was written out due to controversy surrounding Barr's tweets.
