Kawhi Anthony Leonard is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association. A two-time NBA champion, he is a five-time All-Star with three All-NBA First Team selections.
Kawhi Anthony Leonard was born on June 29, 1991 in Los Angeles, California. He is the son of Mark Leonard and Kim Robertson. His zodiac sign is Cancer, and his ethnicity is African-American. He attended Canyon Springs High School in Moreno Valley, California, where he was a first-team All-America selection as a junior and a senior.
Leonard had a successful career at San Diego State University from 2009 to 2011; he was named MWC Freshman of the Year for the 2009–10 season and Mountain West Conference Player of the Year for the 2010–11 season. Following his sophomore year, he declared himself eligible for the 2011 NBA draft and was selected by the Indiana Pacers with the 15th overall pick. On June 23, 2011, his rights were traded to the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for George Hill.
During his time with the Spurs, Leonard developed into one of the best players in the league becoming an All-Star in 2016 and 2017, being named Finals MVP in 2014 when they won their fifth championship, winning Defensive Player of The Year awards in 2015 and 2016, being selected to three All-Defensive Teams (2015–2017) and making three All-NBA Teams (2016–2018). In 2018 he was traded to Toronto Raptors for DeMar DeRozan where he led them to their first title in franchise history. After spending 2019 with Toronto Leonard signed with LA Clippers as a free agent before 2020 season started.
