Kevin Maurice Garnett is an American former professional basketball player who played for 21 seasons in the National Basketball Association.
Kevin Maurice Garnett was born on May 19, 1976, in Greenville, South Carolina. His zodiac sign is Taurus and his ethnicity is African-American. He is the son of O'Lewis McCullough and Shirley Garnett, and he has an older half-brother named Louis McCullough.
Garnett attended Mauldin High School in Mauldin, South Carolina where he began playing basketball at the age of 14. He was a star player throughout high school and after graduating in 1995 he declared for the NBA Draft. Garnett was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves as the fifth overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft. During his tenure with the Timberwolves he was named to nine consecutive All-Star teams from 1997 to 2005. In 2004, he led the Timberwolves to their first division title and set a franchise record for most points scored in a single season with 2,006 points. In 2007, Garnett was traded to the Boston Celtics where he went on to win his only NBA Championship in 2008 as well as winning MVP of The Finals that same year.
In 2013, Garnett returned to Minnesota after being traded from Boston back to his original team. He ended his career with Minnesota following the 2015-16 season and retired from professional basketball at 40 years old after 21 seasons in the NBA. During his time in the league, Garnett earned 15 All-Star selections along with 9 All-Defensive Team selections and 4 rebounding titles among other accomplishments. He also holds numerous records such as most seasons played (21), most All-Star appearances (15), most rebounds (14,662) and most minutes played (50,418).
