Klay Alexander Thompson is an American professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association. A four-time NBA champion with the Warriors, he is a five-time NBA All-Star, a two-time All-NBA Third Team honoree and was once named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team.
Klay Alexander Thompson was born on February 8, 1990, in Los Angeles, California. His zodiac sign is Aquarius and his ethnicity is mixed, as he is the son of a Bahamian mother and an American father. He began playing basketball at a young age and attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. While there, Klay averaged 21 points per game and earned First Team All-League honors.
Thompson then went on to attend Washington State University where he played for the Cougars for three seasons before declaring for the 2011 NBA Draft. He was selected 11th overall by the Golden State Warriors and quickly made an impact with his shooting ability and defensive prowess. Thompson helped lead the Warriors to their first championship in 40 years during the 2014–15 season, becoming one of only four teams to win at least 67 games in a single season.
In 2015–16, Thompson became just the sixth player in NBA history to record at least 400 3-pointers in a single season. He also set a record for most 3-pointers made in a single game when he hit 14 against the Chicago Bulls that same season. In 2016–17 Thompson won back to back championships alongside fellow Splash Brother Stephen Curry as the Warriors defeated LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers 4–1 in the 2017 NBA Finals.
Thompson continued his strong play into 2018-19 with career highs in assists (3.8 per game) and rebounds (5.2 per game). He was named to his fifth all star team that year and also helped lead Golden State to its fourth championship since 2015 with a 6-game series victory over Kawhi Leonard's Toronto Raptors. After suffering an ACL tear during Game 6 of the 2019 Finals, Thompson missed all of 2019-20 season but returned healthy for 2020-21 where he put up 20 points per game while shooting 43% from behind the arc despite missing 24 games due to injury.
