About

Megan Thee Stallion, born Megan Jovon Ruth Pete on February 15th, 1995 in Houston, Texas, is an American rapper and songwriter. She got her stage name from her mother's maiden name Stallion, the nickname she was given as a young girl by her grandmother due to her height and strength.

Megan began writing rap verses at the age of 16 and was inspired by artists such as Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliott and Trina. She attended Prairie View A&M University while working on her music career. After being featured on local radio stations and garnering a large online following with her mixtape 'Rich Ratchet', Megan released her first EP 'Tina Snow' in June 2018 which peaked at number 7 on the US Rap charts.

In 2019 she released two successful EPs, 'Fever' and 'Make It Hot'. Her single 'Big Ole Freak' became a sleeper hit of the year when it went viral on social media platforms such as Twitter and TikTok.  It also earned her a nomination for Best Rap Performance at the 2020 Grammy Awards where she became the first female rapper to be nominated in that category since Lady Gaga in 2011.

Since then Megan has gone on to make a name for herself in the music industry with numerous awards including winning Best New Artist at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards. She also made history when she became the first female rapper to take home multiple awards at the 2021 Grammys including Best New Artist, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance.

She has appeared alongside Cardi B in video clips for their collaborations 'WAP' and 'Cry Baby'. In addition to music, Megan is also an actress having had roles in films like ‘The Trap’ (2018) and ‘Locked Up’ (2020).
