About

Michael Bolton, born on February 26, 1953 in New Haven, Connecticut, is an American rock and pop singer-songwriter who rose to fame with his soft rock and soul ballads. His zodiac sign is Pisces and his ethnicity is Jewish. Bolton’s mother was a homemaker and his father was a fire chief. He started singing at a young age in local clubs, as well as performing in various bands throughout high school.

In 1975, Bolton signed a record deal with Columbia Records. His debut album was released the following year and was moderately successful. However, it wasn’t until 1987 when he achieved mainstream success with the release of “The Hunger”; the single “That's What Love Is All About” became a top 10 hit in the U.S., reaching number five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Throughout the late 80s and early 90s, Bolton released several more albums that were both commercially and critically successful; he earned two Grammy Awards for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You” (1990) and "When A Man Loves A Woman" (1991). His 1991 album “Time, Love & Tenderness” reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

In addition to releasing numerous albums throughout his career, Bolton has also written songs for other artists such as KISS, Barbra Streisand, Kenny G., Laura Branigan, Patti LaBelle, Kenny Loggins, among others. He has also appeared in various films including The Lonely Guy (1984), Madea's Family Reunion (2006), Entourage (2015), among others.
