About

Roger Waters was born on September 6, 1943, in Great Bookham, England. His zodiac sign is Virgo, and his ethnicity is English. He is the son of Mary and Eric Fletcher Waters, a schoolteacher and a scientist, respectively. Roger's father died when he was only 15 months old in World War II.

Waters attended Morley Memorial Junior School and Cambridgeshire High School for Boys where he studied music and learned to play the guitar. In 1965, Waters co-founded Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett and Richard Wright. The band gained international fame with the release of their albums "The Dark Side of the Moon" (1973) and "The Wall" (1979). During this time, Waters wrote most of the band's original works such as "Another Brick in the Wall," which became an anthem for disaffected youth worldwide.

In 1985, Waters left Pink Floyd after disagreements over artistic direction. After leaving Pink Floyd, he released his first solo album titled "The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking." In 1992, he started a world tour with his album "Amused to Death," which was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In 2005, he reunited with Pink Floyd at Live 8 in London and performed some of their classic songs together.

Since then he has released several albums including "Is This The Life We Really Want?" (2017), which peaked at number one on Billboard charts as well as two live albums: "Us + Them" (2018) and "Roger Waters The Wall" (2015). He has also been involved in several humanitarian causes and was awarded numerous honors including induction into both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (1996) and Songwriters Hall of Fame (2007).
