Toni Michele Braxton was born on October 7, 1967, in Severn, Maryland. Her zodiac sign is Libra, and her ethnicity is African-American. She is the daughter of Michael Conrad Braxton and Evelyn Jackson, and she has four sisters—Traci Braxton, Towanda Braxton, Trina Braxton, and Tamar Braxton.

Braxton began singing at a young age with her four sisters as The Braxtons, and the group released their first single “Good Life” in 1989. In 1993, Braxton launched her solo career with her debut album Toni Braxton which included the hits “Another Sad Love Song” and “Breathe Again”. Both singles reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 1994, she won two Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for her first album. Following the success of her first album, she released Secrets in 1996 which included the hit singles “You’re Makin Me High” and “Un-Break My Heart” both reaching number one on the Hot 100 chart. Her third album The Heat was released in 2000 and included hits such as “Just Be A Man About It” and “He Wasn't Man Enough” which also both reached number one on the Hot 100 chart.

In 2002, Braxton released More Than a Woman which featured the hit single "Hit The Freeway". Her fifth studio album Libra was released in 2005 and featured collaborations with Loon and Babyface. In 2010 she released Pulse which earned her another Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album. Her seventh studio album Sex & Cigarettes was released in 2018 to critical acclaim.

Braxton has continued to have success throughout her career not only as an artist but also as an actress appearing on tv shows like Dancing With The Stars in 2015, starring in Broadway's revival of Chicago: The Musical from 2016-2017, hosting Lifetime's Unbreak My Heart biopic film in 2016, among other television appearances.
