About

Traci Braxton was born on April 2, 1972, in Severn, Maryland. Her birth sign is Aries and her ethnicity is African-American. She is the youngest of the six siblings of Michael Conrad Braxton Jr. and Evelyn Jackson. Traci’s father, Michael, was a minister and their family had a very strict religious upbringing.

Traci grew up in Severn and attended Old Mill High School in Millersville, Maryland. She graduated with honors from Bowie State University with a degree in mass communications and journalism. After graduation, she worked as a receptionist for an insurance company before moving to Los Angeles to pursue her music career.

In 2011, Traci joined her sisters in the WE tv reality television show “Braxton Family Values” which led to other appearances such as the TV One sitcom “Love That Girl!” and various red carpet events like The BET Awards or The Pre-Grammy Gala. In 2013, Traci released her debut solo album “Crash & Burn”. She also appeared on Broadway in the musical “After Midnight” alongside Fantasia Barrino and Vanessa Williams.

In 2018, Traci competed on season 21 of Dancing with the Stars but was eliminated during week seven of competition. That same year she launched a clothing line called Toni by Traci Braxton under her mother Toni's label Toneata Inc., which produces vintage inspired designs for women's fashion clothing.

Later that year she became an advocate against domestic violence after speaking out about being abused by her now ex-husband Kevin Surratte at several public events including Essence Fest 2019 and the 125th NAACP Convention Power of Our Voice: Women’s Conference event in Detroit alongside Tamar Braxton who has also spoken publicly about being a victim of domestic violence
