Amy Schumer was born on June 1, 1981 in Manhattan, New York City. She is an American stand-up comedian, actress, writer and producer. She attended South Side High School in Long Island and then went on to attend Towson University in Maryland where she graduated with a degree in Theater.

Schumer began performing stand-up comedy in 2004, making her television debut two years later in the sixth season of NBC's Last Comic Standing. Her first Comedy Central Presents special aired in 2010 and launched her career into stardom. Since then, Amy has starred in three seasons of her own sketch comedy series Inside Amy Schumer on Comedy Central for which she won a Peabody Award and a Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. In 2015, Amy released her first movie Trainwreck which she also wrote and starred in. The movie became a huge success and grossed over $140 million worldwide.

Amy continues to tour nationally with her stand-up show as well as make appearances on various shows such as Saturday Night Live and Inside the Actor's Studio. In 2016, she released her book "The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo" which debuted at number one on the New York Times Best Seller list.
