Ariel Winter Workman, better known as Ariel Winter, was born on January 28th, 1998 in Los Angeles, California. She is American and has German and Greek ancestry. Her father is Glen Workman and her mother is Chrisoula "Chrystal" Workman. She has an older sister named Shanelle Gray who is also an actress.

Winter started acting at the age of four when she appeared in commercials for Cool Whip, Hot Wheels, and Quaker Oats. At the age of seven she had her first major role voicing a character in the animated movie "Tinker Bell".

When she was twelve years old she landed the role of Alex Dunphy on the ABC sitcom Modern Family which catapulted her into stardom. For her portrayal of Alex Dunphy she won two awards for Best Young Actor/Actress from 2012 to 2015 by Young Artist Awards. She also received three Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series from 2011 to 2014.

In addition to appearing on Modern Family, Ariel Winter has also done voice work for various video games including Disney Infinity 3.0 and Lego Dimensions. In 2016 she starred in the comedy film The Outcasts alongside Victoria Justice where she played Jodie Simmons a popular girl who teams up with some social outcasts to take down their mean rival queen bees.

Winter is currently attending UCLA where she studies Political Science and French Literature with plans of pursuing a career in law after completing her degree program.
