About

Dwyane Tyrone Wade Jr. was born on January 17, 1982, in Chicago, Illinois. He is the son of JoLinda and Dwyane Wade Sr., and he has two younger brothers. His father abandoned his family when he was four months old, and his mother became a drug addict and was frequently in jail. When Wade was 8 years old, his mother sent him to live with his father and stepmother in Robbins, Illinois.

Wade's interest in basketball began at an early age, but it wasn't until high school that his talent started to become apparent. At Richards High School, he led the team to a state championship title and earned several awards such as All-State Honorable Mention honors by USA Today and Player of the Year award by the Chicago Sun-Times. After graduating from high school in 2000, Wade accepted a scholarship offer from Marquette University.

He gained national recognition during his sophomore season at Marquette and declared for the N.B.A draft after three seasons with the Golden Eagles. In 2003, Wade was chosen fifth overall by the Miami Heat during the N.B.A draft and immediately had an impact on their performance in the 2003–04 season. He made his first All-Star game appearance in 2005 and earned N.B.A Finals Most Valuable Player honors for leading his team to victory over Dallas Mavericks in 2006 finals series.

Wade continued to have success throughout his career with the Miami Heat and played alongside superstars like LeBron James and Chris Bosh during a successful four year span from 2010-2014 which included two N.B.A titles (2012 & 2013). In 2016, he signed with the Chicago Bulls but returned to Miami Heat on July 2017 where he spent six more years before retiring from professional basketball in 2019 following sixteen seasons in total in the NBA
