Edward Christopher Sheeran MBE is an English singer-songwriter. Born in Halifax, West Yorkshire and raised in Framlingham, Suffolk, he began writing songs around the age of eleven. In early 2011, Sheeran independently released the extended play, No. 5 Collaborations Project.

Edward Christopher Sheeran was born on February 17, 1991 in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. He is the son of John and Imogen Sheeran; he has one older brother named Matthew. His parents had a range of music genres playing in their home and raised him with an appreciation for different types of music. As a child, Sheeran learned to play guitar and started writing songs at age 14.
At the age of 16, Sheeran dropped out of school to pursue a career in music. He moved to London where he performed gigs in small pubs around Camden Town before being discovered by Jamie Foxx’s management team. In 2011, Sheeran released his first album "+" which included his hit single “The A Team." The song earned him two BRIT Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act as well as Grammy nominations for Song of the Year and Best New Artist.
In 2014, Sheeran released his second album "X" which featured singles like “Thinking Out Loud," “Photograph," and “Sing." The album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and was certified 4× Platinum by the BPI (British Phonographic Industry). In 2017, Sheeran released his third album "÷" which included hits like “Shape Of You," “Castle On The Hill," and “Perfect." It became the fastest selling album by a male solo artist in UK chart history and won Album Of The Year at both the 2018 Brit Awards and 2018 Ivor Novello Awards.
Sheeran has also written chart-topping singles for other artists including Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself" and Taylor Swift's "Everything Has Changed." He has collaborated with many other popular musicians such as Rita Ora, Eminem, Skrillex, Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Bruno Mars, Chance The Rapper and more. Throughout his career thus far he has sold over 150 million records worldwide making him one of the most successful singers of all time.
