Helen Elizabeth Hunt is an American actress and director. She is the recipient of numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and four Golden Globe Awards.
Helen Elizabeth Hunt is an American actress, director, and screenwriter. She was born on June 15th, 1963 in Culver City, California and grew up in nearby Los Angeles. Hunt attended the University of California at Santa Barbara and graduated with a degree in English literature. Her first acting role was in the television series “St. Elsewhere” (1982-86). She then went on to star in the movie “Project X” (1987), which earned her critical acclaim.
Hunt gained fame after starring in the romantic comedy “As Good As It Gets” (1997) alongside Jack Nicholson and Greg Kinnear, for which she received an Academy Award for Best Actress. She also appeared in the television drama series “Mad About You” (1992-99), for which she won four Golden Globe Awards and four Emmy Awards. Hunt has since starred in a variety of films including What Women Want (2000), Pay It Forward (2000), Cast Away (2000) and Soul Surfer (2011). In addition to her acting career, Hunt has directed two feature films: Then She Found Me (2007) and Ride (2018).
Hunt is a spokesperson for the Stroke Association of America and works actively to raise awareness about stroke prevention. She has also been involved with various charities such as Save The Children, Feeding America, UNICEF and WaterAid.
