Hema Malini is an Indian movie actress, director, producer, and a classical dancer. She was born on October 16, 1948 in Ammankudi, Tamil Nadu India. Hema's zodiac sign is Libra, and her ethnicity is Indian. Her parents were V.S. Ramanathan and Jaya Baloch.

Hema made her debut as an actress in the 1968 Hindi film “Sapno Ka Saudagar” (Dream Merchant). She went on to have success in many other movies including “Seeta Aur Geeta” (1972), “Sholay” (1975), “Dharmatma” (1975), and “Baghban” (2003). In addition to acting, she has directed two films: “Dil Aashna Hai” (1992) and “Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story” (2005).

In 2000, Hema was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India for her contribution to the arts. In 2008, she was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for her contribution to Indian cinema. She also received an honorary doctorate from the University of Bedfordshire in 2018 for her outstanding achievements in film, dance and humanitarian work. 

Hema has been actively involved with numerous charitable causes including being appointed as the brand ambassador for Project Nanhi Kali which supports education for underprivileged girls in India. In 2001 she founded the Dream Girl Foundation which raises funds to help disadvantaged children access basic healthcare and education services.
