Shane Lee Yaw, better known as Shane Dawson, is an American YouTuber, actor, fimmaker, writer, and musician. One of the first people to rise to fame on YouTube, he began making videos in 2008 at the age of 19 and garnered over 500 million views during the next two years.

Dawson was raised in the Long Beach area and graduated from Lakewood High School in 2006. He started making videos for YouTube when he was nineteen years old and by 2012 his channel had over a million subscribers. Throughout his career he has released several video series such as "Shane and Friends", "The Chair", "Not Cool" and "Conspiracy Series". His content consists of comedy sketches, vlogs, music videos, celebrity interviews and product reviews.
In addition to being a successful YouTuber, Dawson also ventured into other projects such as writing books and appearing in films. In 2014 he released his first book titled I Hate Myselfie: A Collection of Essays which debuted at #2 on The New York Times bestseller list. In 2015 he appeared in the feature film Not Cool alongside fellow YouTubers Grace Helbig and Mamrie Hart.
Dawson's success led him to win multiple awards including the Streamy Awards for Best First Person Series (2014) and Show of the Year (2015). He also won the Teen Choice Award for Choice Web Star Comedy (2013) among others. In 2017 he was included in Time Magazine's list of 25 Most Influential People On The Internet.
