Usher Raymond IV was born on October 14, 1978, in Dallas, Texas. He is an American R&B singer, songwriter and actor. His parents are Jonetta Patton and Usher Raymond III. During his early years he lived in Chattanooga, Tennessee with his mother and stepfather before moving to Atlanta, Georgia where he attended North Springs High School.

Usher's musical career started when he was just nine years old singing in the church choir. He soon joined a local band called NuBeginnings where he sang lead vocals and served as the group's frontman. At the age of 14, Usher signed a contract with LaFace Records and released his debut album at 15 titled "Usher". The album produced several hit singles including "Think of You" and "You Make Me Wanna...” which both went platinum.

Usher continued to release music throughout the 2000s including albums such as "8701" (2001), “Confessions” (2004) and “Raymond V Raymond” (2010). He has gone on to collaborate with some of the biggest names in music including Alicia Keys, Pitbull, Justin Bieber and more. He has also starred in films such as “Honey” (2003) and “In the Mix” (2005).

Throughout his career Usher has earned numerous awards including 8 Grammy Awards out of 17 nominations in categories such as Best Male R&B Performance, Best R&B Album and more. He has also been named Billboard's Top Male Artist for four consecutive years from 2005-2008. Usher is one of the most successful artists of all time having sold over 65 million albums worldwide making him one of only two male solo artists to have achieved this feat since 2000.
