Anderson Hays Cooper was born on June 3, 1967, in New York City. He is the son of writer Wyatt Emory Cooper and artist, designer, heiress, and fashion model Gloria Vanderbilt. Since he was born into a wealthy family, Anderson attended some of the best schools in the country, including Dalton School and Yale University.

Cooper began his broadcast career as an intern at Channel One News. After college, he moved to Vietnam for two years to work as a fact-checker for the Vietnamese version of Channel One News. He then went on to work as a freelance correspondent for ABC News and CBS News before joining CNN in 2001.

Since then, Cooper has become one of the most recognizable faces on television news for his acerbic wit and sharp insight. He’s known for his candid interviews with world leaders and celebrities alike. In addition to hosting his own show, “Anderson Cooper 360°” on CNN since 2003, Cooper also appears regularly on other news programs such as “60 Minutes” and “Good Morning America”. Cooper has won several awards throughout his career including three Emmy Awards and an Edward R. Murrow Award.
