Anthony Anderson was born on August 15, 1970 in Los Angeles, California. He is an American actor and comedian, best known for his roles on the sitcoms “All of Us” and “The Bernie Mac Show”. Anderson graduated from Howard University with a degree in Radio, Television and Film Production. After graduating, he began his career as a stand-up comedian. 

Anderson made his film debut in 1997 with the romantic comedy Hangin' With Mr. Cooper. He then starred in two more films: Me Myself & Irene (2000) and Big Momma's House (2000). In 2001, Anderson began voicing characters for the animated series The Proud Family. He also had regular roles on All of Us and The Bernie Mac Show.

In 2005, Anderson appeared in the drama Hustle & Flow which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. In 2008 he starred in the comedy-drama Lakeview Terrace alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Patrick Wilson. He also starred in the action-comedy remake of The Italian Job (2003), as well as various other films such as Transformers (2007) and Scream 4 (2011). 

Anderson has won numerous awards throughout his career including four NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series for Black-ish which he stars alongside Tracee Ellis Ross and Laurence Fishburne; three Emmy nominations; six Grammy nominations; and two Golden Globe nominations. Anderson currently stars as Dre Johnson on ABC's hit show Black-ish which has been nominated for several awards including a Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy in 2017.
