August Anthony Alsina Jr. was born on September 3, 1992, in New Orleans, Louisiana. His zodiac sign is Virgo, and his ethnicity is African-American. He was raised by his mother, Shonta Alsina, and his father left the family when he was young. Alsina attended Edna Karr High School but dropped out during his sophomore year due to legal issues stemming from a fight with another student.

Alsina’s professional music career began in 2010 when he signed with Def Jam Recordings and released his debut mixtape The Product 2 in 2011. In 2012, he released two singles “I Luv This Shit” and “Ghetto” which were featured on Billboard magazine’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. His debut studio album Testimony was released in 2014 and peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album spawned three singles including the top 10 hit “No Love” featuring Nicki Minaj. 

In 2015, Alsina released his second studio album This Thing Called Life which debuted at number 12 on the Billboard 200 chart and spawned three singles including “Hip Hop” featuring Trinidad James and Jeezy. In 2017, he released his third studio album The Product III: State of Emergency which featured guest appearances from Chris Brown and Yo Gotti among others. 

Alsina has been nominated for several awards throughout his career including five BET Awards nominations as well as two Grammy Award nominations for Best R&B Performance for “No Love” and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “I Luv This Shit” featuring Trinidad James.
