Carmelo Kyam Anthony is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association. He has been named an NBA All-Star ten times and an All-NBA Team member six times.
Carmelo Kyam Anthony was born on May 29, 1984 in Red Hook Projects of Brooklyn, New York. His zodiac sign is Gemini and his ethnicity is African-American. He was raised by a single mother, Mary Anthony, and has two older brothers, Wilford and Robert. His father left when he was only two years old.
Anthony attended Towson Catholic High School in Maryland before transferring to Oak Hill Academy, a prestigious boarding school in Virginia where he excelled in basketball. In 2002, he led the team to a perfect 40–0 season and was named an All-American for his outstanding play.
In 2003, Anthony decided to enter the NBA Draft after one year of college basketball at Syracuse University. He was selected third overall by the Denver Nuggets and went on to become one of their most successful players in franchise history. With the Nuggets, Anthony won three consecutive scoring titles from 2006 to 2008 and became an All-Star for the first time in 2004.
In 2011, he was traded to the New York Knicks and went on to become the team's leading scorer for six seasons until 2017 when he departed as a free agent. During that time, he also represented Team USA in three Olympics where they won gold medals in each tournament (2008 Beijing, 2012 London & 2016 Rio). As of 2021, Anthony currently plays with the Portland Trail Blazers where his leadership skills have been invaluable as they chase an NBA championship.
