Celine Dion was born on March 30, 1968, in Charlemagne, Quebec, Canada. She is the youngest of 14 children in her family and began singing at a young age. At the age of 12, she competed in a local talent contest and won first place with her rendition of “It's Not Easy to Say Goodbye”. She went on to release several French language albums and become an international star with her English language album “Unison”. 

In the 1990s, Dion released several hit singles including “My Heart Will Go On” which became the theme song for the film “Titanic” and won her an Academy Award for Best Original Song. The success of this single propelled Dion to superstardom. In 1997, she embarked on an ambitious world tour and released three more albums before taking a break from performing in 1999. In 2002, she returned with another successful world tour and has since released several more studio albums. 

Dion has been acclaimed by critics throughout her career for her powerful vocal range, emotional ballads and energetic pop songs. She has sold over 200 million records worldwide making her one of the best selling music artists of all time. She has received awards from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean such as five Grammy Awards and seven Juno Awards from Canada as well as being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2004 and receiving France's highest honor - The Legion d'Honneur - in 2017.
