Christopher Allen Lloyd is an American actor. He has appeared in many theater productions, films, and on television since the 1960s. He is known for portraying Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy; and Jim Ignatowski in the comedy series Taxi, for which he won two Emmy Awards.

Christopher Allen Lloyd was born on October 22, 1938 in Stamford, Connecticut. He is an American actor and voice actor, best known for his roles as Professor Emmett Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy, Judge Doom in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Uncle Fester in The Addams Family and its sequel Addams Family Values, and Grigori Rasputin in Anastasia.

Lloyd began acting professionally at age 12 after being discovered by an agent while performing at a summer theater program. He made his Broadway debut at age 17 in Seesaw alongside Michele Lee and later appeared in the 1976 production of Tribute with Jack Lemmon. In 1978, he made his film debut as a cult leader in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. He went on to star opposite Burt Reynolds in The End (1978) and received praise for his performance as a con artist in the critically-acclaimed comedy Goin' South (1978).

In 1985, Lloyd landed one of his most iconic roles as Doc Brown in Back to the Future. The movie was a box office success and spawned two sequels which were released in 1989 and 1990. Following this success, Lloyd starred opposite Jeff Goldblum as scientist Dr. Sidney Zweibel in Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984) and was cast as villainous Judge Doom in Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988). He also played a major role alongside Michael J Fox in Bright Lights Big City (1988), and portrayed Grigori Rasputin during the period of Imperial Russia's collapse for Anastasia (1997). 

Throughout his career, Lloyd has been nominated for various awards including two Saturn Awards for Best Actor for Back To The Future Parts II & III, two Emmy Awards for Taxi (1979) Outstanding Lead Actor – Comedy Series, plus five Golden Globe nominations.
