Cobie Smulders was born on April 3rd, 1982 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She is best known for her roles as Robin Scherbatsky in the hit CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother and Maria Hill in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her mother is a Dutch immigrant and worked at a local hospital while her father was a Dutch-born furniture maker. 

Smulders' first professional acting job was at age 16 when she appeared in an episode of the Canadian teen drama series "Teenagers". She continued to appear in guest roles on Canadian television shows until 2003 when she made her feature film debut in the movie "The Long Weekend". In 2004 she landed her breakthrough role as Robin Scherbatsky in "How I Met Your Mother" which ran from 2005 to 2014. During this time she also starred alongside Tom Cruise in the 2012 action comedy "Jack Reacher" and had a recurring role as S.H.I.E.L.D agent Maria Hill in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films such as The Avengers, Captain America: Winter Soldier, and Avengers: Age of Ultron among others. 

Smulders has also appeared in several other movies including "Safe Haven", "Delivery Man", and Netflix's 2018 romantic comedy "Set It Up". In addition to film and TV roles, Smulders has lent her voice to various animated projects including Walt Disney Animation's 2016 musical fantasy film "Moana" and Netflix's 2020 animated series “Kipo And The Age Of Wonderbeasts”. Additionally, Smulders served as executive producer on the 2017 Amazon Prime Video series “Sneaky Pete” starring Giovanni Ribisi which was nominated for three Emmy Awards.
