About

Drew Barrymore was born on February 22, 1975 in Culver City, California. She is the daughter of actor John Barrymore and Ildiko Jaid Mako. Her parents separated when she was nine months old, and she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Jeremy Thomas.

Barrymore started acting at a very young age; she made her first film appearance in Altered States when she was just 11 months old. When she was seven years old, she made her breakthrough in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial as Gertie and won over audiences with her performance. In 1985, at the age of 10, she became the youngest person ever to host Saturday Night Live. After a string of successful films throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including Poison Ivy, Scream, The Wedding Singer and Charlie's Angels, Barrymore established herself as one of Hollywood's most beloved actresses.

In addition to her successful acting career, Barrymore has also ventured into directing and producing films such as Whip It and Flower Films. She has also founded two production companies: Flower Films in 1995 and Rollercoaster Entertainment in 2014. She has since produced several films including Donnie Darko (2001), Music and Lyrics (2007) and Going the Distance (2010).

Barrymore is an active philanthropist who supports organizations such as UNICEF, Feeding America and the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation (ETAF). She is also an advocate for women’s rights and animal welfare causes.
