Elizabeth Jane Hurley is an English actress and model. As an actress, her best-known film roles have been as Vanessa Kensington in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and as the Devil in Bedazzled.
Elizabeth Jane Hurley, better known as Liz Hurley, was born on June 10th 1965 in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England. Her father was a major in the British Army and her mother was a schoolteacher. She has an older sister named Kate and a younger brother named Michael. She attended Harriet Costello School and then enrolled at the London Studio Centre to study drama and theatre.
Hurley made her first film appearance in the movie ‘Aria’ (1987). Since then she has gone on to appear in over 40 films including ‘Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery’ (1997), ‘Bedazzled’ (2000) and ‘The Royals’ (2015). In addition to her film career, she has had multiple television roles including the lead role in ‘Gossip Girl’ (2006-07). She is also well known for her modelling work with Estee Lauder and appearing on magazine covers around the world.
In addition to acting and modelling, Hurley is also involved in charity work. She is a patron of many causes such as The Prince's Trust, Breast Cancer Care and Breakthrough Breast Cancer. In 2002 she opened the Elizabeth Hurley Beach boutique store in Kensington which sells swimwear that she designs herself.
Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards including being named an Honorary Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2002 for her charity work.
