Elvis Aaron Presley, often referred to mononymously as Elvis, was an American singer and actor. Dubbed the "King of Rock and Roll", he is regarded as one of the most significant cultural figures of the 20th century.
Elvis Aaron Presley was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. He was born to parents Gladys and Vernon Presley and had a twin brother who died shortly after birth. His family eventually moved to Memphis, Tennessee where he grew up.
At the age of 21, Elvis made his first record with Sun Records in 1954 and his career began to take off from there. He quickly rose to fame as one of the most influential singers of the time by blending country music with rhythm and blues as a form of rock n’ roll. His unique style and captivating performances earned him the title “The King of Rock n’ Roll” and millions of fans around the world.
Throughout his career, Elvis released an estimated 600 songs, appeared in 33 films, had numerous television appearances and Las Vegas residencies that spanned decades. As his celebrity status grew, so did his influence on popular culture. He is widely regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons in American society and has been honored with numerous awards including 14 Grammy Awards, The Lifetime Achievement Award, Congressional Gold Medal and induction into both The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and The Country Music Hall Of Fame.
Sadly, Elvis passed away at his home on August 16th 1977 due to heart failure at the age of 42. He will forever remain an iconic figure in music history whose legacy continues to live on through his music today.
