Dame Helen Mirren DBE is an English actor. The recipient of numerous accolades, she is the only performer to have achieved the Triple Crown of Acting in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
Helen Mirren was born on July 26, 1945, in Chiswick, London. She is an English actress and has been in the entertainment industry for over 50 years. Her father was a Russian immigrant and her mother was of mixed English and Irish ancestry.
Mirren began studying acting at the age of 18 at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama. She made her professional stage debut in 1965 with a small role in "A Midsummer Night's Dream". She joined the National Theatre Company in 1967 and soon became known for playing powerful female roles on stage and screen.
In 1975, Mirren won her first major award when she earned a BAFTA for Best Actress for her performance in the BBC miniseries "Elizabeth R". In subsequent years, she earned Emmy and Tony Awards for her work on television and stage, respectively. Her film credits include roles in some classic films such as "The Long Good Friday" (1980), "Excalibur" (1981), "The Mosquito Coast" (1986) and "The Madness of King George" (1994). In 2010, she won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in Stephen Frears' drama "The Queen".
More recently, Mirren has appeared in films such as "Red" (2010), "Woman in Gold" (2015) and "Eye in the Sky" (2015). She also starred alongside Christopher Plummer in the comedy-drama series "Remember Me?" which premiered on HBO Max in 2021. Mirren continues to be one of Britain's most respected actresses who is admired by audiences around the world.
