Jason Joel Desrouleaux, better known as Jason Derulo, is an American singer, songwriter and dancer born on September 21, 1989 in Miami, Florida. His ethnicity is Haitian-American. He started singing at the age of five and writing songs at the age of eight. At the age of 16 he signed his first record deal with Beluga Heights Records.

In 2009 he released his first single "Whatcha Say" which became a worldwide hit and topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for three consecutive weeks. He followed that up with several other hits such as "Ridin' Solo", "In My Head", "Talk Dirty" and "Wiggle". His second album Future History was certified gold and featured collaborations with Snoop Dogg, Tyga and 2 Chainz.

In 2011 he released his third album Tattoos which featured collaborations with 2 Chainz, Kid Ink and Pitbull. In 2014 he released his fourth album Talk Dirty which included collaborations with Jennifer Lopez and Tyga. His fifth album Everything Is 4 was released in 2015 and featured collaborations with Stevie Wonder, Meghan Trainor and Keith Urban.

Derulo has also been involved in numerous tours around the world including North America, Europe, Asia, South America and Australia. He has won several awards over the years including a Teen Choice Award for Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Artist in 2010.
