Amy Poehler was born on September 16th, 1971 in Newton, Massachusetts. She is an American comedian, actress, director, producer and writer. Her zodiac sign is Virgo and her ethnicity is of Irish, German and Portuguese descent. 

Poehler attended Burlington High School and then went on to study at Boston College. She later moved to Chicago to pursue a career in improvisational comedy. Poehler joined the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater where she performed with fellow comedians Matt Besser, Ian Roberts and Matt Walsh.

In 2001, Poehler made her television debut when she was cast as a performer for Saturday Night Live (SNL). She quickly gained popularity for her impersonations of celebrities such as Hillary Clinton and Sharon Osbourne. During her time on SNL she won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2007.

In 2008, Poehler co-created the show Parks and Recreation which aired on NBC until 2015. For her role of Leslie Knope on the show, she received three Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series between 2010 and 2012. She also starred in the movie Baby Mama and voiced characters in Inside Out (2015) and The Secret Life of Pets (2016).

Poehler has directed several episodes of Parks & Recreation and Broad City and wrote the book Yes Please (2014). In 2018, she created the show Duncanville for Fox which premiered February 2020.
