Andre Tyler Iguodala is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association. The swingman was an NBA All-Star in 2012 and has been named to the NBA All-Defensive Team twice.
Andre Tyler Iguodala was born on January 28, 1984 in Springfield, Illinois. He is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the University of Arizona and was drafted ninth overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2004 NBA draft.
Iguodala won an NBA championship with Golden State Warriors in 2015 and was named the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player. He has also been selected to six All-Star teams and three All-Defensive teams. In 2021, he became just the fourth player to win an NBA title, Finals MVP award, regular season MVP award and Olympic gold medal.
Growing up in Springfield, Iguodala played high school basketball at Lanphier High School before attending college at the University of Arizona. As a freshman, he averaged 12.9 points per game and earned Pac-10 Freshman of the Year honors. Iguodala left Arizona after his sophomore year to enter the 2004 NBA Draft where he was selected by Philadelphia with the ninth overall pick.
In nine seasons with Philadelphia, Iguodala became one of their most versatile players and earned a spot on two All-Star teams during that time. After eight seasons with Philadelphia, Iguodala was traded to Denver as part of a four team deal that included Dwight Howard heading to Los Angeles Lakers.
In 2013, Iguodala signed a four year contract with Golden State Warriors which is where his career really took off as he helped lead them to five consecutive Finals appearances (2015–2019) and three consecutive championships (2015–2017). In 2015 Iguodala won both Finals MVP and NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards becoming only the eighth player ever to win both awards in one season.
After winning his third championship with Golden State in 2018, Iguodalasigned a two year deal with Miami Heat prior to the 2019–20 season.
